Greatest Week Of The Year For Sports Fans

We are coming up on the greatest week,  April 1- 9, for sports fans in the entire year, in my humble opinion.

This weekend we have the culmination to the exciting NCAA Basketball Tournament, with the final four semifinal games on Saturday April 1, 2017 and the National Championship game on Monday night, April 3, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.  Since I have no favorite teams remaining in this year's final four I will root for the underdog, either South Carolina or Gonzaga [whoever wins that game], to win it all.

I was at the final four and championship game in NRG stadium in Houston, Texas and I got to see the most exciting finish in NCAA championship history last year, 2016 with Villanova defeating North Carolina for the championship.  I saw the following:

Then, for me what is the most exciting opening of any of the Major League sports, and that is the opening games of  Major League Baseball.  This is the time, no matter how bad your team was last year or the previous years, hope springs eternal that this will be the year your team makes it to the World Series.  Yes, the major league baseball season is a long season of 162 games, but there is nothing like opening day in MLB.  My Houston Astros open at home on Mon. April 3, 2017 against the Seattle Mariners.  Play ball!

Last year was also one of the most exciting World Series in history with the Chicago Cubs ending decades of futility to not just get to the World Series but win the World Championship over the Cleveland Indians [also long suffering fans.]:

Then later in the week we have one of the most exciting major tournaments in the PGA, "The Masters".  This years Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA at the Augusta National Golf Club will be its 81st edition.  The Masters is special because it is the first of the Major Championships in professional golf.  This years Masters runs from April 6- April 9.  Who will wear the green jacket this year?

The 2016 Masters was one of the greatest with many incredible shots. Danny Willett won his first major championship out dueling the previous year's winner Jordan Spieth in the 80th Championship at Augusta National Golf Club.

The "Green Jacket" ceremony from 2016:

Sit back and enjoy sports fans for what could, once again, be the most exciting week in sports!
