If Only They Could Both Lose

Really America?  Out of 350 million people the best we can come up with is Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump?

Hillary Clinton is unfit to be the president of the United States.  Not only with her incredible selfish act of having her own private server as Secretary of State, breaking the rules of sending classified material [e-mails] over an insecure server and lying to the American people about that and, in Hugh Hewitt's words,"being convicted but not indicted by FBI director James Comey", but maybe more importantly with her lack of accomplishment as Secretary of State and in some cases disastrous actions [or lack thereof], such as in Benghazi, where four Americans were killed in a terrorist attack. Her failure to provide adequate security, even when begged by Ambassador Chris Stevens, falls directly on her shoulders. What is more deplorable is that she lied about this being a terrorist attack, initially blaming it on a You-Tube video when she knew different. And the most deplorable act of all was her lying to the families of the Benghazi four telling them that "they would get the video maker who caused this". I agree with Senator Marco Rubio when he said, "lying to the families of those killed in Benghazi disqualifies Hillary Clinton from being the commander in chief". This person should never be the commander-in-chief of the United States of America.

Donald Trump is unfit to be the president of the United States. This man has shown himself to be totally clueless on the issues of the day and a more startling lack of interest in learning about them, especially on foreign policy/national security matters.  Libertarian presidential candidate, Gary Johnson, was severely criticized by almost all parties because of his lack of knowledge about "Aleppo" in Syria, but there was hardly a yawn when Donald Trump had no clue about the Quds force of Iran or about the nuclear triad because he had already shown himself to be so clueless about everything.  His lack of character as displayed by his juvenile name calling and at other times vulgar language disturbs me as a conservative Republican [I can remember a time when "character" mattered to people like me politically]. His, at times, racist comments [and I am not calling Trump himself a racist], such as "Mexican rapists" or his calling the American born Judge Curiel a Mexican because his parents were from Mexico, or his saying because Judge Curiel was of Mexican heritage he was unqualified to hear a case against him, or his attacking a Gold Star mother because she was a Muslim should be disqualifying for anyone running for president [or any other office for that matter]. What is really disturbing to me as a Republican is how so many great intelligent conservative Republicans I love have been willing to cover up for this guy. The bar has been set so low for him when he gives a speech written for him off a teleprompter, chants of "wow" and "great speech" and "Reaganesque" are heard just because he stays on message without insulting someone.  Sheesh!  This person who actually claimed he knows more than the generals do about ISIS should never be the commander-in-chief of the United States of America.

What is very disturbing to me, maybe selfishly on my part as I have been a life long loyal Republican for over 40 years, is that if Donald Trump wins the presidency, he and his major supporters from the get go, like Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Steve Bannon,, become the voice of the Republican Party. I don't want to be a part of the Republican party if these people are the voice of the party.

Looking at the long view, could the GOP win this battle of the 2016 presidency but lose the long range war?

Can't they both lose?  I know one thing, one of these two people unfit to be the president of the United States will win, and America will be the big loser no matter which one it is.

Totally disheartening . America is a reflection of the candidates we've chosen.
