It's Time For the United States To Withdraw From the UNHRC

The un- Human Rights Council
There has been much hate vitriol spewed at Israel [in the current Gaza operation by the IDF] from the usual suspects of anti-Israel/Jewish ideologues from around the world.  Included in those attacks on Israel come from the usual suspects in the United Nations itself as revealed in UNHRC, the United Nations Human Rights Council.  Of course, with such stalwarts of human rights on the council, like China, Cuba and Pakistan, their name ["human rights council"] having any semblance of reality is a total joke.

The Human Rights Council is now, and has always been since its establishment in 2006, a megaphone given to those anti-Israel, anti-Jewish members of the United Nations to spew their hate against Israel.

We now have the head of the so-called human rights council saying Israel should be probed for war crimes.  Yes, you heard that right, Israel, the country defending itself from thousands of rockets being launched at their cities is, according to the UNHRC committing war crimes by not just sitting there and taking it.

This from the Huffington Post from July 31, 2014 "GENEVA (AP) — The U.N.'s top human rights official is accusing Israel and Hamas militants of committing war crimes in the latest Gaza war.  U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay says that by placing and firing rockets within heavily populated areas both sides are committing "a violation of international humanitarian law, therefore a war crime."

Pillay also told reporters Thursday in Geneva that she sees "a recurrence of the very acts" from the 2009 Gaza war in which the U.N. concluded Israel deliberately targeted civilians and might have committed war crimes, along with Hamas."

You may think, well this is the first time the United Nations Human Rights Council has exhibited anti-Israel tendencies.  That would be wrong thinking.  It has exhibited those tendencies since its establishment in 2006.  That is why, under the George W. Bush administration, John Bolton, the then US Representative to the United Nations, refused the United States entry into the council, which at its inception had such human rights stalwarts as Zimbabwe and Sudan.

But in one of the first acts of the Obama administration, the United States under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in an act of almost mocking at the Bush administration, asked for entry into the Human Rights Council.

This from the Washington Post on April 1, 2009 "UNITED NATIONS, March 31 -- The Obama administration has decided to seek a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Council, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Tuesday, reversing a decision by the Bush administration to shun the U.N.'s premier rights body to protest the repressive states among its membership.

The United States announced it would stand as a candidate in elections May 15 to decide three seats on the 47-member council, joining Belgium and Norway on a slate of Western candidates. New Zealand, which had planned to run as well, offered to step aside to allow the United States to run unchallenged.

Clinton and Susan E. Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said the decision was part of a broader push for "a new era of engagement" in U.S. foreign policy.

"Human rights are an essential element of American global foreign policy," Clinton said in a statement. "With others, we will engage in the work of improving the U.N. human rights system to advance the vision of the U.N. Declaration on Human Rights."

Thanks a hell of a lot, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for your unclenched fists to the haters of Israel.  I think you now [at least I hope you now] realize that has been a total failure.  I say it is time to once again withdraw from the UNHRC.

President Obama always says he has Israel's back.  If that is true, he will direct his UN Representative, Samantha Power, to immediately tell the United Nations that the United States is withdrawing from the Human Rights Council.

That is the least he can do.  If I had my way, I would withdraw from the entire UN, but that might be for some future post.
