Senator Ted Cruz: US Action Amounts To "An Economic Boycott Of Israel"

The great U.S. Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz
Senator Ted Cruz tonight [Wednesday] has called the FAA's ban of flights to Israel equivalent to an economic boycott of Israel, our best friend in the Middle East

From the Sacramento Bee in an article written by By William Douglas McClatchy Washington Bureau on July 23, 2014:

"The facts suggest", said Cruz, "that President Obama has just used a federal regulatory agency to launch an economic boycott on Israel, in order to try to force our ally to comply with his foreign policy demands."

Senator Cruz noted that "given the exceptional challenge Israel faces, Ben Gurion has rightly earned the reputation as one of the safest airports in the world due to the aggressive security measures implemented by the Israeli government.’

What is even more startling and very disturbing to any friend of Israel and to anyone who is concerned about the national security of the United States: "Cruz noted that the ban came as Secretary of State John Kerry announced $47 million in aid package for Gaza, which Cruz described as ‘$47 million for Hamas.’

The article ends with Cruz' very correct conclusion:
"In short order, this travel ban was announced by the FAA," Cruz said. "Aiding Hamas while simultaneously isolating Israel does two things.   One, it helps our enemy.  Two, it hurts our ally."

UPDATESenator Ted Cruz, on the Sean Hannity Show on the Fox News Channel on Wednesday night, announced that he has informed the administration that he will hold up the nomination of all state department employees until the state department answers all questions on why they have imposed this ban solely on the state of Israel.

UPDATE:  The FAA lifted the ban of flights into Israel at midnight.  I give thanks to Senator Ted Cruz for being the first to speak out strongly against the ban and playing such an important role.  Also, thanks to AIPAC who came out strongly against the action by the Obama administration.  And most importantly, thanks to Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, speaking for the people of Israel, whose expressed outrage to Kerry about the ban I am sure played the major role in the lifting of the ban in the dead of the night.
