|Soprano Renee Fleming|
So, on this Super Bowl XLVIII, Tales brings you a classical weekend special. We will feature soprano Renee Fleming in three great performances: 1. the aria "O Mio Babbino Caro" from Pucinni's opera, Gianni Schicchi; 2. Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria" [one of the most beautiful songs every written and one of my favorite songs]; and 3. in one of the greatest performances of all time, one that will bring tears to your eyes, Renee Fleming sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Rogers and Hammerstein's musical "Carousel," at a concert to honor America on the one year anniversary of 9-11.
Then to bring back memories of the greatest, to date, singing of the National Anthem at a Super Bowl, Whitney Houston's performance from 1991.
