The Classical Prokofiev

Sergei Prokofiev was a great 20th century Russian composer who was a late Romantic era composer. While Prokofiev flourished and loved his Russian style of Romantic music, he also recognized the great legacy of the classical era and classical composers.  That is why he honored those composers with his first symphony, sometimes labeled a neo classical symphony, and he himself named it his Classical Symphony.  Using many of the styles of Haydn he varied from the Romantic style with his very first symphony. Here are the first and final movements of Prokofiev's "Classical" symphony on this glorious Sunday.
