One Democrat who I support in his "safe haven for heroes act."

As a result of the Supreme Court's decision supporting the 'free speech rights' of the detestable Westboro Baptist Church idiots at the funerals of our military heroes, a Democrat congressman is presenting a bill which everyone should support. I wish the rest of the court had voted with the common sense Justice Samuel Alito's dissent who said the First Amendment does not convey the right to "brutalize" private individuals. "Our profound national commitment to free and open debate is not a license for the vicious verbal assault that occurred in this case," he wrote.
Since they didn't go along with Justice Alito, this "Safe Havens for Heroes" bill proposed by Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger [MD-D]  is needed.
The legislation essentially follows on with  Bush's "free speech zones" that were found to be perfectly legal. The proposed legislation is aimed at preventing protests from taking place five hours before or after a military funeral. The bill also requires that such protests be staged 2,500 feet away from a funeral facility.
Thank you Cong Ruppersberger,  I support your effort for some common sense decency for our military heroes.
I think in the future this should expand to all  funerals.  No grieving family should have to put up with the hateful, sick people of the Westboro Baptist Church or anyone like them.

There are limits of free speech when it comes to pornography, couldn't the speech aimed at grieving family members be considered hateful pornographic speech?
