I was really dreading seeing the president's state of the union speech thinking he was going to give such a rousing speech to go along with his good Tucson 'memorial' speech that his popularity would rise so much, he would be almost unbeatable in 2012. I worried for nothing. To quote the great [I would even say genius] Charles Krauthammer: 'The president is known for his soaring oratory, his great speeches --This wasn't one of them. This was one of his weakest speeches ever.'
That let me know that I wasn't alone in feeling that exact thing. It also let me know I wasn't just feeling that because of the admitted bias I have against his policies.
This changes what I thought could be a big boost in Obama's poll numbers and let reality sink in to the American people. I predict in a couple of months you will see those numbers start to go down again.
