Happy Israel Independence Day! - Yom Ha'Atzmaut

Hat tip: to Joshua Sharf a friend on Facebook who reminded me that today [at sunset] marks Israel's Independence Day.

At sunset tonight, May 1, 2017 and thru the day of May 2 will mark the 69th anniversary of Israel's Independence Day known as Yom Ha'Atzmaut.

Happy Israeli Independence Day, 2017!

From Wikipedia"Yom Ha'atzmaut (Hebrew: יום העצמאותYōm hā-ʿAṣmāʾūṯ   lit. "Independence Day") is the national day of Israel, commemorating the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948".

"It is celebrated either on the 5th of Iyar, according to the Hebrew calendar, or on one of the preceding or following days, depending on which day of the week this date falls on. Yom Ha'Atzmaut is preceded by Yom Hazikaron", the Memorial Day to honor the Israeli fallen soldiers.

"Yom Ha'Atzmaut centers around the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel by the Jewish leadership led by future Prime Minister David Ben Gurion on 14 May 1948 [69 years ago]."
