Karen Tumulty Sums Up The Trump Supporters To a Tee

On Wednesday night, March 30, on CNN [and I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember if it was with Anderson Cooper or Don Lemon] I heard Karen Tumulty, great political correspondent for the Washington Post, make a brilliant point about many of the Donald Trump supporters.  The discussion was about how so many of Trump's supporters remain steadfastly supportive of him even though many of his announced positions will be against what many of his supporters believe.

Karen Tumulty
Karen said when she has talked to Trump supporters it wasn't ideology that attracts many, if not most, of them to him, but it is his ability to project strength, even if he says things that may not coincide with their beliefs.

Then Karen brought up a dichotomy in the reasoning of many of Trump's supporters, that I think, brilliantly sums up the quintessential Donald Trump supporter to a tee.

Karen said what Donald Trump supporters will say they love most about him is that he says what he means and he means what he says.  But then when Trump makes a statement that is an obvious damaging blunder, the same Trump supporter will excuse it by saying "he didn't really mean what he said."

Huh?

Mike, I just got through watching Bret Baier's new program, "Rising Threats -- Shrinking Military."

And after having watched that, regarding the fashion that Obama has slashed our military, our pride, our strength, our soldiers, stripped the nation of power, common sense, logic, proportion and rationality, I'm ready to tear this nation apart.

If it takes a Trump to turn things upside down, I'm damned near there.

Because if the GOP submits PAUL RYAN, for example, at the last moment, I'm not going for it.

The whole thing can fall apart. I've spent years preparing for the worst. I have food, water, firearms, ammunition, training, education, experience and the mindset to survive.

I'm not in a major population center, I have neighbors who care about me, I'm in the mountains, and I can watch civilization fall through binoculars with the best of 'em.

I'm just about at my end, sir. I'm not far from it.

I've prepped for me and mine. Frankly, I can't care or take care of anyone or everyone else.

That's called a clue, Mike. I hope YOU have prepared for the worst.

Hang in there BZ and pray. I have to respectfully disagree with you about Trump because, especially on foreign policy, Trump doesn't have a clue and there is zero evidence he would actually shake things up for the better-especially building up the military. Bernie Sanders would shake things up too, and I ain't voting for him either.
