No Sympathy From Me For Kim Davis

Kim Davis is the Kentucky Rowan County Clerk [voted into office] who is now in jail on contempt charges for being in defiance of a court order to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

Kim Davis would gain a lot more respect if she resigned her job then she has by not doing her job
I personally am in favor of the traditional definition of  marriage between one man and one woman.  But the Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to deny same sex couples to be married.

Kim Davis says she is following her religious beliefs in defying the court order.  That is her right, but being an official of the court she must also suffer the consequences for that defiance [i.e., not doing her job].  I don't know if jail is the right option, I don't think it is, as I think she should have just been removed [if that was possible-I don't know] from her position, but I personally have zero sympathy for Kim Davis' situation.

If Kim Davis really felt so strongly she couldn't do her job by issuing same sex marriage licenses, then she should have resigned her office.  If she did that, I would have had respect for her and she might have made a stronger political statement in doing so.  To me by her refusing to do her job as an official of the court lessens her credibility in making the argument against same-sex marriage.

Just as I don't respect president Obama when he doesn't follow the law and seems at times to be acting like the dictator of a third world country, I would be a hypocrite to say I respected Kim Davis for not following the law and doing her job.  I don't.

BREAKING NEWS: Sept 8, 2015 at 12:00 pm--I am just hearing on the Fox News Channel that the judge has ordered Kim Davis to be released from jail.  I think that is good and hope that now she will do the right thing and resign her job, or do her job [which means issuing same-sex marriage licenses].
