RIP Barry Rubin

RIP Professor Barry Rubin 1950 – February 3, 2014
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Professor Barry Rubin of Israel.  Many of you may know him from his intellectual insights of Israel and Middle East politics in his Rubin Reports or you received his newsletter, like I welcomed with eagerness to get in my e-mail.

The following from good friends of this good man:

Barry Rubin was a PJ Media columnist and was the Middle East editor for PJ Media.
This quote from Roger L. Simon of PJ Media
"The phrase Tikkun olam– to repair the world — is often used in the Jewish tradition, sometimes by people Barry did not think the best of, and for good reason. But Barry himself embodied that tradition more than anyone I can think of.  He indeed was a “repairer of the world,” the conscience of the White City.  To say that he will be missed is a cliché not worthy of him.  The deepest condolences from my family to his."

This from a good friend and student of Professor Rubin, Jeff Dunetz from his web site Yid With Lid:
"Barry was a consummate teacher.  When he first took Ill, he made all of his scholarly books available for free online because he wanted people to be able to learn from him even after he was gone." ... "The most important thing in Barry's life was his wife Judith, and his two kids, Gabriella and Daniel. They were his joy". ... "May God bring Comfort to his wife,  Judith Colp Rubin and their two children.  May the Almighty comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
Rest in peace my friend, I miss you already."

This from The Jewish Press:
"A native of the United States, Barry was director of the Global Research of International Affairs [GLORIA] Center and a professor at the IDC in Herzliya, Israel.  Barry Rubin's was a rare voice of clarity in the Israeli academia and Israel media.  He was one of the good guys."

May you rest in peace Barry Rubin.       May God comfort your family and friends.
