Mr. Cruz Goes To Washington

There has been something floating below the radar screen that is not being talked about in the main stream media.  President Obama had refused for his entire presidency to nominate an Inspector General for the State Department.  That has allowed the State Department, under Hillary Clinton and now John Kerry, to remain unaccountable for any misdeeds or questionable actions of the department.  Senator Ted Cruz, R-TX pointed out that because the State Department lacked an Inspector General there has been a lack of oversight the last 5 years on events such as the terrorist attack on the diplomatic personnel in Libya and "mismanagement at our embassy in Afghanistan".

Because of that Senator Cruz sent out a press release on last Wednesday June 26, 2013 that he would withhold all nominations to the State Department until President Obama named an Inspector General for the State Department.   I talked about that action taken by Senator Ted Cruz in this post here.

I believe because of that action by the senator from Texas, President Obama on Friday, just two days after Senator Cruz made his demand, finally nominated a State Department Inspector General.

On Friday, June 28, President Obama nominated Steve A Linick for State Department Inspector General.

This press release from Senator Ted Cruz on Friday, June 28, 2013:

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today issued the following statement regarding President Obama's nomination of Steve Linick for State Department Inspector General:

"Three days ago, I wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Reid and Minority Leader McConnell notifying my intent to hold all diplomatic nominations until a State Department Inspector General is nominated by the President. This crucial oversight position has been vacant for nearly five years"...

" Yesterday, the White House finally nominated Mr. Steve Linick to fill this role at the State Department. That the President has finally announced a nomination - after allowing this vital post to remain unfilled for nearly 2000 days - is welcome news to all who value good governance and accountability within our federal agencies"...

Please read the entire statement from Senator Ted Cruz here.

Bravo, Senator Ted Cruz!   It took a singular freshman senator to force the president's hand.  Who said one senator cannot make a difference?

Once again the great Senator Ted Cruz has made all Texans and all Americans proud!

They must do a remake of one of the epic movies, this time entitled: "Mr. Cruz Goes To Washington"
US Senator Ted Cruz
