Another One of My Heroes Disappoints.

General Colin Powell has been a great patriot, a great American.  He has been one of my heroes.  So, when Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 against his friend, moderate John McCain it surprised and disappointed me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I could see that he was proud that an African American could be the president of the United States.  So, I cut him some slack, even though he threw overboard a loyal friend like John McCain.  I naively thought loyalty meant something to Colin Powell.

But now after almost three years of seeing this failed president, I can't believe a man as smart as Colin Powell is still making excuses for him. General Powell seems to be blind to how demagogic and divisive this president is.  He is blaming the tea party for the division in the country. What?  Talk about having your head in the sand.

Powell said this on ABC this weekend:
"Compromise is how this country was founded, and unless two people in disagreement with each other don't find a way to reach out to one another and make compromises, you don't get a consensus that allows you to move forward.   But the Tea Party point of view of no compromise whatsoever is not a point of view that will eventually produce a presidential candidate who will win."

The tea party view of no compromise?  Colin Powell were you brain dead when Obama and the Democrats for two years rammed Obamacare down America's throat with not one attempt at compromise with the Republicans. What the hell was that, General Powell?

General Powell have you missed  speech after speech of demagogic divisiveness from this campaigner in chief?   You don't think Obama has been trying to divide this country politically for personal gain, General?  Have you seen one shred of an attempt to compromise from this president?  To me, your blaming the tea party for the divide in this country is mind boggling.

I used to value Colin Powell's opinion greatly.  No more.
General Colin Powell, a hero, has sorely disappointed.
