Mendelssohn goes 'Italian'

I know, I know every weekend when I introduce one of my favorite passions, classical music,  to my blog, I always begin by saying..this is one of my favorite composers.  Maybe I just love them all, but in this case it is true, this is one of my favorite composers: Felix Mendelssohn.  The young prodigy, Mendelssohn,  loved the string instruments and in fact actually composed many short "string symphonies' which only had string instruments in them.  This is not one of those string symphonies but as you will hear it uses the strings prominently. This is his great Symphony #4 called "The Italian".   One of my favorites!   :)    I am almost sure after you listen, you will love this symphony too!
The classical symphony with very rare exceptions has four movements. This is the first movement of Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony # 4 (Italian)         Enjoy!
