This is my mayor folks. Forget the fact that she may be trying to create a 'gay' district on the Houston city council, but has any other mayor walked out on their own press conference? Hilarious.
HOUSTON - Mayor Annise Parker abruptly walked out of her own press conference at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
That came after reporters repeatedly questioned Parker about rumors she and some other council members are trying to create a majority gay council district in Houston.
She answered several questions about redistricting and quickly walked out of the room.
"That's all I have to say about this issue," said Parker. "That's it. This is not what this press conference is about."
Rumors have run wild after Conservative Councilman Mike Sullivan was removed from a position that would oversee redistricting in the city.
As a result of a major population increase the city of Houston is slated for redistricting in 2011. The move would create two new council districts.
